The Swan 48 was designed as a fast cruising boat with the capability of providing some excellent Swan racing when configured to “racing mode”. “NIKAIA von Hamburg” is a yacht that had been optimised for family sailing and sometimes for very successful participating at local swan races and national sailing events. Twin cockpits allow easy movements even in demanding conditions above and below decks. The owner aft cabin with centre line double berth (with lee cloths) is a perfect cabin at sea or in port. Well-equipped galley, convivial salon and two further cabins forward allow for occasional guests to be accommodated in comfort.
The present owner never intended to sell her There had been no intention to sell this fast Cruiser/Racer and due to that no costs have been spared to optimise her continuously, but surprisingly decided to purchase a larger yacht, as the family has grown. Therefore, the owner invested all the time in keeping her in best shape, by replacing and adding the equipment.

After her arrival in Hamburg in autumn 2012 the Volvo Penta M22 had been dismounted and disassembled until the last screw to get a complete refit at the specialised boat’s engine company Baguhn/ Hamburg. For reasons of its excellent tacking characters all worn parts had been replaced and until now the engine only counts 650 hours. Lock coupling against theft.
A new starter battery with transfer to generator and vice versa.
In this connection the complete engine compartment had been converted into its original condition. A new light with safety device, automatic temperature driven ventilation had been installed.
In 2014 a new generator (Panda 4500 W, 220 V) in Swan standard had been mounted in the aft cabin, incl. remote control in the nav corner, converter and a separator from exhaust fumes and water. The quite generator`s operation is nearly not heard in the harbour. A relay driven cooling water discharge pump avoids water inrush.
